You gotta love a getaway weekend to Milano! #LoveMilano
Even tho Milano is a big city, you don’t feel you have to rush around. You can decide to take it easy and stroll around the very busy streets around the Duomo or sit at a terrazza and enjoy people watching!
On Saturday, we went to the #ExpoMilano2015. We found it to be a waste of time and money as 250’000 people had the same idea on this very beautiful day and we were unable to enter any pavilion (you can imagine that queuing 1.5 to 2 hours to discover a country was not an option). Instead we sat in the sun, grabbing food from Sierra Leone and Bangladesh, quizzing each other about those two countries (Thanks to google!)
After a few hours of lazing in the sun, we made our way to the apartment we had rented for our stay in la Bella Città. Subway and trains are quite good and we easily found our place, located close to Corso Como, piazza Repubblica and Moscova.
For dinner, we decided to try a specialty from the pizzeria Porta Di Garibaldi: the Tuscan pizza which was thick and crunchy, (fried). Quite an experience! You better like dough and as we did, we loved this! Luckily they serve it as a slice!
The next day was fabulously relaxed. A sleep in and a stroll around the Duomo, enjoying a gelato for breakfast (coz we can) and a late lunch with a platter of cold cuts. We even had the chance to sample different types of buffalo mozzarella. Fabulicious!
Our journey back home took a bit longer but with great company, a few beers and a set of cards, who cares?
